An iterative method for designing separable Wiener filters

چکیده
In this paper, we present a technique for designing the optimal (in the mean square error sense) separable 2-D filter for recovering a signal from a noise-corrupted signal when the joint statistics of the signal and noise are known. A set of nonlinear equations in the design parameters is derived, and an iterative algorithm to solve them is presented. The algorithm is shown to be nondivergent in theory and rapidly convergent in practice. The results of applying the separable filter design algorithm to several typical image recovery problems are given. In most cases, the performance of the resulting separable filter is similar to that of the optimal nonseparable filter with the same region of support.

Minimization of L2-sensitivity for L2-D separable-denominator state-space digital filters subject to L2-scaling constraints using a lagrange function and a bisection method
Abstract: The problem of minimizing l2-sensitivity subject to l2-scaling constraints for two-dimensional (2-D) separable-denominator state-space digital filters is investigated. The coefficient sensitivity of the filter is analized by using a pure l2-norm. An iterative algorithm for minimizing an l2-sensitivity measure subject to l2-scaling constraints is then explored by introducing a Lagrange...
متن کاملDesign of Two-Dimensional Signal adapted filter bank from One Dimensional filters
We present the design of two dimensional finite impulse response(FIR) signal adapted filter banks for an input signal whose power spectral density is separable. One dimensional FIR filters are designed for each of the separable components using iterative greedy algorithm. The first and last filters in this 2D filter bank are found to be separable and matching closely with ideal ones .The remain...
متن کاملIterative Desensitisation of Image Restoration Filters under Wrong PSF and Noise Estimates
The restoration achieved on the basis of a Wiener scheme is an optimum since the restoration filter is the outcome of a minimisation process. Moreover, the Wiener restoration approach requires the estimation of some parameters related to the original image and the noise, as well as knowledge about the PSF function. However, in a real restoration problem, we may not possess accurate values of th...
متن کاملMultidimensional IIR filters and robust rational interpolation
It is well-known that IIR filters can have a much lower order than FIR filters with the same performance. On the downside is that the implementation of an IIR filter is an iterative procedure while that of an FIR filter is a one-shot computation. But in higher dimensions IIR filters are definitely more attractive. We offer a technique where the filter’s performance specifications, stability con...
متن کاملWiener-Optimized Discrete Filters for Differential Motion Estimation
Differential motion estimation is based on detecting brightness changes in local image structures. Filters approximating the local gradient are applied to the image sequence for this purpose. Whereas previous approaches focus on the reduction of the systematical approximation error of filters and motion models, the method presented in this paper is based on the statistical characteristics of th...
